We encourage open discussion, and in order to create a positive and engaging environment for the community we ask all users to treat each other with respect.
Users may disagree with an idea or a person’s viewpoint; however, we ask that you remain respectful when conveying that point of view to others.
Port Macquarie Hastings Council does not accept responsibility for community comments – they are not representative of the opinions of our Council, nor do we make any warranty to their accuracy.
Posts on Port Macquarie Hastings Council social media pages may be deleted or hidden as determined in the Council’s absolute discretion if they breach these House Rules or contain:
- defamatory, offensive, humiliating, threatening or intimidating to council officials or members of the public,
- contains profane language or is sexual in nature,
- constitutes harassment and/or bullying within the meaning of the Model Code of Conduct for Local Councils in NSW, or is unlawfully discriminatory.
- contains content about the Council, council officials or members of the public that is misleading or deceptive,
- breaches the privacy of council officials or members of the public
- contains allegations of suspected breaches of the Council’s code of conduct or information about the consideration of a matter under the Procedures for the Administration of the Model Code of Conduct for Local Councils in NSW,
- violates an order made by a court
- breaches copyright
- advertises, endorses or solicits commercial products or business (other than Council endorsed),
- constitutes spam
- would be in breach of the rules of the social media platform.
- information that may compromise the safety or security of the public
- any discussion or promotion of behaviour that is unlawful
- ·off-topic posts by a single user
- repetitive posts copied and pasted or duplicated by single or multiple users
- any other inappropriate content or comments as determined by the Council.
Content created, sent, and received by users may constitute open access information or be subject to an information access application made under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009.
Social Media platforms are not to be used for making complaints about Council or Council officials. Complaints about Council or Council officials may be made via Council’s website at pmhc.nsw.gov.au and will be managed in accordance with Council’s Customer Complaints Policy.
When interacting with our social pages Port Macquarie Hastings Council requests that you:
- exercise courtesy
- are respectful to others at all times
- do not post personal addresses or phone numbers
- acknowledge that the Council cannot check the accuracy of every post and does not take any responsibility for reliance on posts on this page.
Users who do not comply with these social media House Rules may be hidden, removed, banned or blocked from the page at the absolute discretion of the Council.
Social media posts and comments must also adhere to that platforms’ own community guidelines, user agreements and policies.
