Waterways and coastlines

We have many programs and systems in place to monitor and protect our waterways and coastline.

The Coast, Estuary and Floodplain Advisory Sub Committee is responsible for advising us on the management of our coastlines, estuaries and floodplains. CEF representatives include members from the community, industry, other levels of government and responsible agencies.

Lake Cathie

Information about management of Lake Cathie including opening and dredging

Monitoring our coastline

Take part in our collaborative project to capture our changing coastlines with CoastSnap.

Coastal Management Program

A framework to manage the coastal environment in an ecologically sustainable way for the social, cultural and economic wellbeing.

Floodplain management

Managing flood risk is everyone’s responsibility. Communities need to be prepared for flooding, understand how to respond to flood threats and recover from the impacts of floods when they happen.

Canal management

There are two canal systems in our local government area: Broadwater Canals and Settlement Point Canal.
