Accessibility

We are committed to creating a community where everyone can participate fully, feel safe, and access the places, services and information they need. This includes people with disability, people who are neurodivergent, people living with dementia, older residents, carers, and anyone who may experience barriers to everyday access

Community Inclusion and Disability Inclusion Action Plan

Our work in accessibility is guided by our Community Inclusion and Disability Inclusion Action Plan (CIP/DIAP) 2025. The plan sets out how we will improve physical, digital and social access across the region by removing barriers, applying universal design principles, and partnering with community to strengthen inclusion.

Enable Disability Network

The Enable Disability Network, established in 2024, brings together local members of different ages and access needs to share insights, highlight barriers, and help shape more inclusive Council services, places and programs across our region. Through the contributions of its members, the network offers important lived-experience guidance that helps Council strengthen accessibility across the region. The network is led by Council's Community Activation Manager and meets bi-monthly. If you are interested in learning more about this network or joining it, please email community.activation@pmhc.nsw.gov.au.

Accessible Facilities

MLAK

The Master Locksmith Access Key will unlock all wheelchair accessible toilets across Australia that are fitted with the MLAK system.

Wheelchair Friendly Places

We have wheelchair-friendly businesses across our region, identified by our Access Friendly logo. Find out where these businesses are and what other facilities are available including playgrounds, beach access, a wheelchair accessible fishing platform and toilet facilities.
