Citizen of the Year Awards

 

Council's Citizen of the Year Awards, part of the Australia Day Awards program, recognise local individuals and groups who make outstanding contributions to the Port Macquarie Hastings community.

Nominations for the Port Macquarie Hastings 2025 Citizen of the Year Awards are now open.

If you know an inspirational person or community group making a difference to life in our community, don't miss the opportunity to show your appreciation by nominating them for an award.

Citizen of the Year Awards are open to all Australian citizens living in the Port Macquarie Hastings area. Winners will be announced at Council's Australia Day Ceremony to be held on Sunday, 26 January 2025.

Citizen of the Year

Recognises outstanding service to the community over the last 5 years. The nominee should be an inspirational role model who has made a positive impact on the Port Macquarie Hastings community.

Young Citizen of the Year

This award goes to a young person, aged 12-25 years who has made a real difference in the community. The nominee should be someone who inspires others and has had a positive impact on the Port Macquarie Hastings area.

Community Spirit Award

Awarded to individuals, organisations, or groups for distinguished service to the community. This includes projects and events. Nominees should demonstrate community leadership, promote the principles of cultural diversity, and social equity, showing a tireless approach to community life and participation.

2. Fill in and submit the nomination form

Nominating is easy using our on-line form. Tell us about your nominee and how they meet the award category criteria. Include their contact details and provide a referee we can speak with to find out more. Attach any supporting material, including photographs and media articles.
