Our animal shelter keeps lost, stray and abandoned animals safe until their owners are found or they can be re-homed. We also find homes for abandoned animals through adoption.
When a ranger finds an animal in a public place without an owner, they will scan the animal for a microchip and attempt to contact the owner if microchip details are found.
To pick up your pet, you will need to sign a release form and pay a fee before your pet is released. Un-microchipped and unregistered pets will also need to be registered and microchipped before the animal is returned to you.
Our animal shelter is located at John Fraser Place, Port Macquarie and open to visitors by appointment only. Opening hours are:
Animal pick up only on public holidays. No microchipping or animal surrender.
If you’re interested in adopting a pet contact us on 6583 3488 or visit the shelter’s website for available adoptions. We also work alongside other rescue organisations in an effort to give every animal an opportunity to be rehomed.
