Tacking Point Lighthouse Accessible Walkway

Concept plan Tacking Point acessible walkway

The lighthouse is a much-loved icon of cultural, social and heritage significance. It is a popular destination for locals and visitors. We want to make this experience more inclusive and accessible while protecting the coastal environment and heritage significance of the site.

Following recent environmental approvals(PDF, 35MB) and prior community consultation plans are now in place to start construction of the accessible walkway.

The lighthouse and the surrounding reserve have been restored over the last decade in line with a master plan for the site(PDF, 1MB)  that has been in place since 2012.

The Tacking Point Lighthouse and reserve is owned by Crown Lands (Crown Lands Department of Planning, Industry and Environment) and managed by Port Macquarie Hastings Council. The lighthouse, which still functions as a maritime navigation aid, is managed by TfNSW Maritime Infrastructure Delivery Office.
