Writing your application

Your application is your chance to shine! We’ll ask you questions based on the position’s essential criteria and responsibilities.

Use the STAR technique to structure your answers:
Situation - What was happening?
Task - What needed to be done?
Action - What did you do?
Result - What was the outcome?

Tips for a strong application:
• Use full sentences and check for spelling and grammar
• Be specific and honest about your qualifications and experience
• Include in-progress qualifications with expected completion dates
• Personalise your application and cover letter and use examples from different roles.

Interview time

If you’re shortlisted, we’ill email you to book an interview time.

Interviews are a two-way street, we want to learn about you, and you’ll get to learn about us too.

Interview tips:
• Review the Position Description and Essential Criteria
• Prepare examples using the STAR technique
• Bring notes or dot points to helps you stay on track.

Pre-employment checks

If you’re successful, we’ll guide you through the next steps. These may include:
  • References checks
  • Police check
  • Qualification verification
  • Medical assessment (including drug/alcohol screening).

What to expect:

  • Our external providers will contact you directly to arrange these checks
  • You don’t need to update us on progress, we get regular updates from the providers
  • If you have any concerns or questions during this stage, please reach out.

Why we conduct medical assessments:

Medical exams not about passing or failing. They help us understand any risks that may affect your ability to safely perform the position duties - for your wellbeing and the safety of others.

Some assessments may include a psychological questionnaire. This isn’t a mental health evaluation, it’s designed to understand workplace behaviours like resilience, risk tolerance and how you handle challenges.

Receiving an offer

We’ll contact you to let you know the outcome.
If you are the chosen candidate, congratulations! You’ll receive a formal offer soon.
If you’re not selected, you may be placed on an eligibility list for similar positions for up to 12 months.
