Fees & charges

Our domestic waste service includes your red, green and yellow bins. 

1. Minimiser 140L red bin collected fortnightly - $485.55 per year
2. Standard 240L red bin collected fortnightly - $553.63 per year
3. Excess 240L red bin collected weekly - $818.17 per year

Waste Management Charges are as follows:

*Residential properties must have one of these base services before additional bins can be provided.

An annual availability service charge applies to properties connected to our sewer service. The 2023-24 wastewater annual charges are as follows:

• Connected or available service: $1,028.50
• Pressure sewer systems: $998.50
• Properties that are not connected but have the service available: $660.20
• Non-rateable properties (Churches and Halls):  $660.20
• Other non-rateable properties that are exempt under Section 555 of the LGA: $819.00
• Non-rateable properties that are exempt under Section 556 of the Local Government Act:  $1,028.50

An additional sewer charge is levied on major regional shopping centres, caravan parks, flats, retirement homes, motels, clubs, hotels, schools and backpacker hostels at $1.52 per kilolitre. 

Properties with an onsite sewer system for the treatment of waste are charged an annual management fee.  The current on-site sewage management fees are as follows:

• Low Risk System:  $44.00
• Medium Risk System:  $87.00
• High Risk System: $125.00
• Small Commercial: $250.00
• Large Commercial: $311.00

Properties connected to our water supply system are charged annually based on the size of meter.

Your bill = access charge usage charge. 

The following charges are applicable for the current rating period.

Unconnected properties that have the service available are also levied an annual availability charge of $190.00.

Properties that are non-rateable under Section 555 of the Local Government Act are exempt from the payments of annual water availability service charges.

Water Usage Charge

Water consumption is charged based on the following tariffs:

• Water consumption tier 1  = $3.98 per kilolitre
• Water consumption tier 2 = $7.96 per kilolitre

The usage charge increases when yearly consumption exceeds the set level. For example: The usage threshold for a 20mm service is 270kL. For every kilolitre up to 270kL you will be charged the first tier. For every kilolitre used over 270kL, you will be charged at the tier 2 rate. 

Water Usage Tracker

The Water Usage Tracker is an easy way for residents to monitor how much water they are using in each quarter and whether or not they need to improve water efficiency practices to avoid paying the higher rate per kilolitre. The Water Usage Tracker is located on the back of your water rates notice. The graph format illustrates how much water a household has used in each quarter. Predictors indicate whether current consumption rates are likely to exceed the 270kL/yr threshold and result in higher charges.

Stormwater management is how the stormwater that flows off a parcel of privately owned, developed urban land is managed.  The charges for the current rating period are as follows:

• $25 per residential property
• $12.50 per residential strata property
• for business properties the charge is capped at $25 per 350m² (or part thereof) to a maximum amount of $500.00
• for business strata unit properties the charge is $12.50 per business strata property

Land within a city, town or village that is in the residential and business categories for rating purposes (except vacant land) will be charged the stormwater management levy. We use this levy to increase the level of stormwater management services.

There are no pensioner rebates offered for the annual stormwater management services charge.
