Heritage Bicentenary celebration

Old-Church

This historic church, built by convicts under military supervision, is the fifth oldest in Australia and has been in continuous use for 200 years. As the oldest tourist attraction in Port Macquarie, it holds a significant place in our community's history. Join us on Sunday, 8 December as we commemorate 200 years since the laying of the foundation stone in 1824.

Bicentenary Week Celebrations

The celebrations kick off on Sunday, 1 December with a special service presided over by the Bishop of Grafton, followed by the launch of a new book, "Convicts to Co-vid", authored by Rev. Canon Dr. John Barrett OAM.

Throughout the week, the church will host morning tours and an exhibition, offering a glimpse into its rich history.

  • Saturday, 7 December:

    • A service will be presided over by the Primate of Australia from 5 PM to 6 PM.
    • Following the service, enjoy a Bush Dance and Dinner (tickets required. See website for details)
  • Sunday, 8 December:

    • The Bicentenary Service will be held, featuring the Primate of Australia, the Most Revd. Geoffrey Harvey, along with other government dignitaries.
    • A light lunch will be provided after the service.

Come and be part of this momentous occasion as we honor 200 years of faith, history, and community!
