Is the project approved for construction?
Detailed design has been completed, but construction funding has not been secured. Preparatory activities do not represent approval or funding to begin construction.
When will construction start?
No construction date has been set. Construction can only proceed once funding has been secured and the necessary property, planning and approval processes have been completed.
How is the project currently funded?
Council has allocated $405,000 in the 2026-2027 Operational Plan to progress priority property acquisitions and related preparatory work.
This allocation does not include construction funding.
Will properties be affected?
The proposed design identifies potential partial property acquisitions, easements, driveway adjustments and work near some property boundaries. Council will contact potentially affected owners directly and provide property-specific information.
Can the design change?
The detailed design establishes the proposed scope and property requirements. Some refinements may still be necessary as Council works through technical, access, service and property matters.
What improvements are proposed for pedestrians and cyclists?
The design includes new shared paths and on-road cycle lanes to provide safer and more connected walking and cycling routes through the project area.
Why isn’t the Wrights Road intersection part of this project?
Council understands the Wrights Road intersection is a major concern for the community.
As part of the Oxley Highway, the intersection is managed by Transport for NSW. Council continues to advocate for an upgrade and is working with Transport for NSW through the Integrated Transport Plan.
The John Oxley Drive and Major Innes Road upgrade will prepare the local road network to connect with any future solution at Wrights Road.
