Spendmapp Data

PMHC Economic Development subscribes to Spendmapp by Geografia to provide our local business operators with valuable information around how money is spent in our LGA.

Spendmapp data is compiled from anonymous debit and credit card transactions from one of Australia’s major banks that occur in our LGA, or by residents of our LGA. This includes transactions made via phone, in-person EFTPOS and via the internet. This data is then adjusted to account for all banking data, as well as cash and non-card payment (such as BPAY).   Learn more about Spendmapp.

It allows users to view expenditure activity in, to, and from our region. This information is presented through the following ways:

  • Resident, visitor, and online spend
  • Spending by whole-LGA as well as by suburb or area (SA2)
  • Spending our residents make outside of our LGA (escape spend)
  • The top 3 origins of visitors to our LGA
  • How expenditure is broken down, into 22 categories
  • Expenditure by time of day

How these insights can help your business

Spendmapp data provides an image of what our local economy looks like throughout the year and how trends, seasons, and events can change local conditions. This insight can provide crucial understanding of customer preferences and spending habits. For example, Spendmapp reports provide valuable insight into the spending habits of visitors during major events periods, which empowers businesses to plan promotional offerings during these periods to maximise impact.

Spendmapp reports

Reports are provided both monthly and quarterly. Our Economic Development team is always happy to provide more detailed or specific information if you require it.
