Hastings Regional Sports Complex

Hastings Regional Sports Complex

The corner of Oxley Highway and Stoney Creek Road, Wauchope has been identified by Council as being suitable for a new regional sporting complex which will not only cater for existing sporting needs but offers an opportunity to grow our future sporting tourism by attracting new regional and state events.

The high-end fields and related infrastructure have been designed for outdoor sports including cricket, touch football, football, rugby league and rugby union.

What are the proposed works?

The new sporting complex will include:

  • Touch football fields
  • Cricket fields – with both turf and synthetic pitches
  • Football/rugby league/rugby union fields
  • Field lighting
  • A large club room including a grandstand and accommodating change rooms, a meeting room, accessible amenities, canteen, kitchen and storerooms
  • Multiple car park areas catering for up to 500 vehicles
  • Bus access and pick-up/drop-off zones
  • A fenced off-leash dog park
  • A children's playground.

Where is the project up to?

At the Ordinary Council Meeting held on 21 April 2021, a report was tabled outlining the proposed priorities of all major sporting infrastructure projects currently in Council’s planning.

In relation to this report, Council resolved to:

'Endorse the Hastings Regional Sporting Fields as a major strategic infrastructure project and as such, pursue progression of this project as a standalone item and seek 100% external funding for the construction of the project.'

As at June 2023 Council has completed detailed designs and is seeking funding.

Beginning 2025, minor works will be undertaken to upgrade the existing sewer rising main along the rear of houses fronting Princess Avenue. These works are not an indication of works commencing on the sporting fields.
