Landfill reports

Council publishes groundwater, surface water, leachate and landfill gas monitoring data from our landfill sites at Port Macquarie, Cairncross, Wauchope and Dunbogan as part of the environmental protection legislation.

Refer to the Environmental Protection Authority website where you can search for each licence by entering the licence number. Full licence details and past annual returns can be viewed online.

Port Macquarie Waste Management Facility

The Kingfisher Road site has surrendered its license but Council continues to monitor the area as per the previous license conditions.

Cairncross Waste Management Facility

Licence Number: 11189

Monitoring frequency as required by licence:

Testing of groundwater, surface water and leachate at all points must be carried out 4 times annually.
Gas monitoring at the landfill face must also be carried out 4 times annually.

Any other requirements of the monitoring condition:

List number of pollution complaints
List any non compliance with licence conditions

Any relevant limit imposed by the licence:

Waste disposal by application to land (annual capacity)
Land based extractive activity >30,000 - 50,000

Dunbogan Landfill

Licence Number: 5924

Monitoring frequency as required by licence:

Testing of groundwater, surface water and leachate at all points must be carried out quarterly.
Gas monitoring at the landfill face must also be carried out quarterly.
Gas monitoring must be undertaken monthly in all buildings and sheds on or within 250 metres of deposited waste.

Any other requirements of the monitoring condition:

List number of pollution complaints
List any non compliance with license conditions

Wauchope Landfill

The Wauchope site has surrendered its license but Council continues to monitor the area as per the previous license conditions.
