The annual Wayne Richards Sporting Scholarship provides financial assistance of $4,000 to a Port Macquarie Hastings athlete participating at state or national level.
We pay the sports scholarship in four instalments of $1,000 to support the athlete with the costs associated with training and competition.
Applications for the Wayne Richards Sporting Scholarship closed on 30 September 2021, and the next round will open in 2022.

Paralympian Ryley Batt is a former recipient of the Wayne Richards Sporting Scholarship.
The scholarship was established as a tribute to the late former Mayor, Wayne Richards, who was a passionate supporter of youth and sport in the Port Macquarie-Hastings region. He was instrumental in the formation of the Mayor's Sporting Fund in 1999.
The scholarship was launched in 2004.
