Rainbow Beach Sporting Fields

The ultimate facility has been designed as a multi-functional recreation space, with provisions for:

• 4 football (soccer) fields
• 2 cricket pitches
• 1 AFL field
• 4 multi-use basketball / netball /pickleball courts
• 2 cricket training nets
• An accessible playground.

Works commenced at the end of November 2021 and the initial stage of the complex is earmarked for completion by the Winter 2023 sporting season.

Stage 1 of construction will include the turf playing fields, inclusive of flood lighting for night-time training/competition, the primary access and carpark, accessible playground, one of the multi-use courts, temporary amenities and user group storage, surrounding footpath connections, viewing shelters and site landscaping.

Future stages of the facility are still subject to funding, but will look to provide the permanent amenities building, remaining 3 multi-use playing courts, cricket training nets, and overflow carparking. The new 700m² permanent amenities building will feature a kiosk, player changing rooms, public toilets, umpires / officials room and sporting group storage areas.

The fields will provide the opportunity to draw sporting teams and visitors both locally and from the wider state and, importantly, relieve demand on existing sporting facilities within the LGA that previously hosted these events.

Local teams and the community will also be able to make use of the fields, with the complex situated directly behind the Lake Cathie Public School. This provides fantastic access for students and future homeowners in the adjacent Rainbow Beach Estate to enjoy the new facility once constructed.
