The Bicentennial Walkway Stage 1 Project is a key project identified in the Port Macquarie Town Centre Masterplan with the aim to provide a safer, continuous pathway from the recently completed Town Green West through to Kooloonbung Creek Nature Park.

What are the proposed works?

The Stage 1 project includes:

  • 5m wide footpath between the Town Green West to Town Wharf
  • renewal and widening of the existing boardwalk and pathway along the Hastings River foreshore through to Kooloonbung Creek Nature Park at Gordon St
  • construction of new pedestrian underpasses at the William Street and Gordon Street bridges
  • relocation and upgrade of existing utilities (sewer rising main and recycled water main) in Short Street carpark and Kooloonbung Creek Reserve
  • maintenance of Town Wharf (completed on behalf of Maritime Infrastructure Delivery Office (MIDO) – Transport for NSW).

Where is the project up to?

We’ve engaged local contractor Building Heights Pty Ltd to undertake the Works with construction commenced in December 2021.

Formal opening of the Northern Stage (Town Green West to Fishermans Wharf) was completed on 15th August 2022.

The final Southern Section (William St to Gordon St including both underpass structures) is expected to be completed by December 2022 weather permitting.
