Drop off for free

Don't Be A Dumper

There are some household items that can be taken to the tip and dropped off for free, without the need for a tip ticket or having to pay.  If you can't find an item in the list below check the A-Z Waste guide.

Council accepts the following items for free of charge at its waste facilities:

  • Bulk cardboard
  • Glass bottles and aluminium cans
  • Household oil and motor oil
  • Fluoro globes and tubes
  • Empty gas bottles
  • Paints and solvents
  • Car and household batteries
  • E-waste such as computers, TVs, DVD players
  • Scrap metal such as bicycles, metal poles
  • Whitegoods such as fridges, washing machines, dryers, microwaves, metal appliances

E-waste

Electronic items that can be dropped off for free includes materials such as:

  • Televisions
  • Computers
  • Towers
  • Keyboards, mouse, joysticks
  • VCRs, DVD players, gaming consoles, HiFi equipment
  • Faxes, printers and multi-functions
  • Laptops, tablets
  • Micro-stereos
  • portable speakers
  • hand held game consoles 

The following materials are not accepted under the E-waste program and will be charged the minimum mixed waste charge:

  • Broken televisions/screens
  • Products contaminated with hazardous materials or foreign objects
  • Power tools
  • Appliances
  • Universal power supplies
