Council is responsible for the maintenance and protection of the coastline extending from Point Plomer in the north to Diamond Head in the south. It has only been in recent years where we now understand the problems that can arise from coastal erosion and predicted climate changes and the impact this can have on our coastline. Because of this exposure to risk, Council has studied the issues and hazards relating to our specific coastline and prepared processes to help us manage our coastline through the Coastal Zone Management process.
Two focus areas of the coastline have been subject to the Coastal Management process.
