IRONMAN Australia

IRONMAN Australia is an international triathlon event held in Port Macquarie each year, bringing thousands of visitors to our region from around the world.

IRONMAN 70.3 is also held with IRONMAN Australia. Collectively, these events bring more than $10 million each year into our local economy.

The Ironman Australia triathlon includes:

  • 3.8 kilometre swim
  • 180 kilometre bike course
  • 42.2 kilometre (marathon) run

Competitors come from all over the world to participate and the scenic course spans from Port Macquarie to Camden Haven.

IRONMAN 70.3, fondly known as the half Ironman, is held at the same time as IRONMAN Australia. In this triathlon, each leg is half the distance of IRONMAN Australia, with 70.3 being the total number of miles covered in the race.

IRONKIDS and Bright Night Run

The weekend also includes IRONKIDS, a shorter race for children aged 5 to 13 keen to participate in some ironman action.

The Bright Night Run is an additional fun event, encouraging people to run 5km while dressed up in bright coloured clothes and bright lights. It includes prizes and plenty of family-friendly fun and entertainment.

Local benefits

IRONMAN brings more than 10,000 people to our region and adds around $16 million per year to our local economy. Hundreds of locals compete alongside athletes from over 20 countries. The event has helped to foster strong local triathlon, running and cycling clubs. By bringing the community together, and through the Local Organising Committee, Ironman donates $50,000 to local community groups with over 2,000 volunteers each year.
