Paste-up gallery

coach-terminal-gallery

As part of this year's Artwalk event, we will be installing a temporary exhibition space at the Port Macquarie Coach Terminal.

Local creatives and groups have been invited to apply for the opportunity to present their work in a unique format. The internal walls of the Terminal will be transformed into a pop-up gallery, with A1 posters applied via a paste-up method. Artworks will be exhibited from 10 June 2022 to 2 September 2022.

The exhibition will be free and accessible to everyone, making this an excellent opportunity for creatives with little to no experience in exhibiting, to share their work and make a name for themselves locally. Group submissions will also be considered.

Expressions of Interest are now closed.

There will be opportunity to apply for future exhibitions in this space. We will be calling for submissions later in the year. Make sure you are subscribed to our iCreate newsletter to stay up to date here.

About the opportunity

A minimum of 5 prints, and a maximum of 10 will be displayed in the exhibition. The project will be financed by Council, and participants will have the opportunity to:

  • learn how to translate artworks to a poster medium, with reference to a 'how-to' guide
  • work with a Technical Assistant on photographing 2D and 3D artworks to achieve optimum results using a smartphone
  • learn digital image editing and processing using free online software/apps
  • learn how to prepare for an exhibition
  • become familiar with an exhibition timeline and checklist
  • learn to write an artist and exhibition statement
  • document the exhibition through social media planning
  • learn how to install a paste-up exhibition.

Submission criteria

  • Any form of creative making will be considered. This includes photography, illustration, painting, poetry, embroidery, ceramics, sculpture, dance, digital design, and more. Just make sure your work can be represented 2-dimensionally in a poster format.
  • The selected artist/s must be available in the week prior to installation to assist in the process.
  • All works must be of original, creative content; and must not used to directly promote a commercial business. Links to websites and socials are able to be displayed.

Artwork brief

We thank Djuyalgu Wakulda, our local Gathang Language Group, as this year’s ArtWalk event will take inspiration from Dungang:

Nyiirun girranggang ginyaanggang biladiyn
- We are more alive and happier because of the river.

Your artwork must represent this concept in a creative way. Make sure to check the artwork brief(PDF, 305KB) before expressing your interest, so you can address all criteria.
