Measuring business confidence in the Port Macquarie Hastings

Released on: 05 October 2021

Released on: 05 October 2021

The 2021 Port Macquarie Hastings’ Business Confidence Survey is now open.

Council is keen to hear local businesses’ views and experiences, to gain a comprehensive understanding of local confidence now, and for the future.

The Business Confidence Survey is open until Sunday 31 October 2021. Local business owners will be contacted by email or phone and invited to complete a short, confidential survey.

The survey data will identify trends within our local industries and economy, and will consider challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, confidence levels, growth or change factors, and innovation levels across key industries.

Council Group Manager, Liesa Davies says that comparing this year’s survey data to previous data will help Council to consider potential mechanisms for it and other levels of government to aid in the recovery of business confidence, and foster sustainable economic development.

“Understandably, last year’s survey highlighted a decline of business confidence within our region, and this year, our businesses have endured another natural disaster, and further impacts of COVID-19,” said Ms Davies.

“We know some sectors of our economy continue to perform strongly, but many businesses are struggling, and the survey is a great avenue for business owners to confidentially provide honest feedback about the challenges faced when it comes to staffing overheads or other elements of sustaining their business.”

Business owners in Port Macquarie-Hastings can expect to be contacted by phone or email during October and will be invited to participate in the 5-10 minute survey or complete it online on Council’s website.

“There is great value in hearing our collective local business voice. I hope that all local businesses take part and have their say, so that we can appropriately respond to all experiences and support a thriving future,” said Ms Davies.

Following comprehensive analysis, the insights gained from the 2021 Business Confidence Survey will be shared broadly during December this year.
