Go Behind the Scenes at Council
To celebrate Local Government Week, Port Macquarie-Hastings Council are giving the community the chance to see first-hand what goes on across the numerous services that Council provides.
Local Government Week starts on Monday 29 July, and a number of FREE 2-hour bus tours will take place where residents can learn about what Council deliver on behalf of the community.
The tours will include a presentation by Council Rangers and Geographical Information System staff, a visit to the Cairncross Waste Management Facility to see recycling in action, a visit to Council’s Laboratory facilities at Charles Sturt University, and the opportunity to go to Flynns Beach and learn about what’s involved in the construction of the new seawall.
In addition, informative FREE tours that go behind the scenes of the Glasshouse will be available.
Acting Director Holly McBride said the tours are a great way to bring Council closer to the community.
“Local Government Week sees Council open our doors to showcase and celebrate the work and services we provide our growing community,” said Ms McBride.
“This year’s theme is Your Council, and highlights that we deliver much more than just ‘roads, rates and rubbish’, but many other services such as invasive weed management, public pools, libraries, community halls, food safety regulation and managing our region’s water supply to name just a few.”
The FREE tours will run as follows:
