Cols Bridge Replacement
Cols Bridge on Stoney Creek Rd is being upgraded to ensure the ongoing safety of local residents, with works to replace the bridge set to commence on Monday 15 October.
As part of Council’s ongoing bridgeworks maintenance program, the existing timber bridge will be demolished and replaced with a new single span timber bridge, and is expected to take 3 weeks to complete (weather permitting).
A total bridge closure will be necessary to undertake the work in a safe and efficient manner, and as a result Stoney Creek Road will be closed between Sunny Corner Road and Pembrooke Road.
Detours for local residents will be via Pembrooke Road, with light vehicles directed along Redbank Road and heavy vehicles directed along Beechwood Road due to the load limit on the Redbank Road rail bridge.
Digital signboards advising motorists of the road closure and detour routes are currently in place.
These works were originally planned for late September, however Council delayed the works to attend to emergency repair works on Stoney Creek Bridge and Kindee Bridge.
More than $6 million will be invested during 2018/19 to ensure the ongoing accessibility and safety of our region’s extensive bridge network.
