Lake Road final planned closure
Works to improve traffic flow in Port Macquarie’s industrial area are progressing as per schedule, and a final closure of the east bound lane of Lake Rd between the Oxley Hwy roundabout and Fernhill Rd will take place next week.
This is the fifth and final planned closure, and will allow for the laying of asphalt on the eastbound lanes. The closure will be from 6am Monday 23 April and 6pm Friday 27 April.
The timing of the works will be weather dependent. A detour will be in place during the closure, with traffic travelling east on the Oxley Hwy advised to access Lake Rd via Fernhill Rd. The west bound lane on Lake Rd will remain open under changed traffic conditions.
“This is the final planned closure of Lake Rd, and after this work we will move on to completing the finishing touches including line marking and signage,” said Director Alex Fisher. “We thank the community for exercising patience and understanding during the necessary closures, and are looking forward to completing this important project during May,” Ms Fisher said.
The $2.4 million project will see the duplication of approximately 300m of Lake Rd between Toorak Ct and the Oxley Hwy. The work includes road widening to 4 lanes, kerb and guttering, improved pedestrian access, signage and line-marking, and an upgrade to telecommunications, lighting and stormwater.
