Hastings Moonlight Movies is a free family entertainment program sponsored by Council and is usually held in public parks or reserves around the local area.

It's an outdoor event with movies screened throughout the summer school holidays or in connection with other outdoor events. Moonlight Movies offers the perfect chance to pack a picnic and relax with the family while watching your favourite movies on the big screen.

Where do I park?

There is on-street parking available around Bain Park, Wauchope. We recommend car pooling with friends to make car parking easier.

What time should I arrive? 
It is recommended patrons arrive from 5.00pm onwards. Placing of seats and blankets is first in first served and the designated spaces will cater for both small and large audiences.

What time does the film start? 
Screening of the movie will commence at approximately 6:00pm. Movie times will be posted when movies are announced so check the website for times.

What are the seating arrangements? 
Patrons will be required to bring their own seating to all Hastings Moonlight Movie venues. The grounds in front of the screen will be divided into two sections. Closest to the screen will be for those using rugs, cushions and low beach chairs. The back half of the grounds will be designated for those using beach and camping/director chairs.

Can I BYO? 
You are most welcome to bring your own food and drinks. Some venues will have surrounding café’s or restaurants that may be open for you to purchase refreshments. A Coffee/Food Van will be onsite from 5.00pm for patrons to make purchases for the April screening at Bain Park.

What happens if it rains? 
Moonlight Movies is an outdoor event and subject to favorable weather conditions. As this is a free event there is no compensation for patrons should bad weather affect the screening. If the movie is cancelled due to extreme winds or heavy rain notification through Council’s website and Council’s Facebook page will occur as soon as practicable. If cancelling the movie screening is decided close to the screening time, event staff will be available on site to advise patrons of the cancellation.

What do I need to bring? 
Something to sit on, refreshments, rubbish bag and perhaps warm clothing just in case the evening gets cool. We suggest you bring a torch to make packing up easier at the end of the night. 

What happens to lost property? 
Please report any lost property to official event staff before you leave the venue. Leave your details with them. If you realise you have lost something after you leave the venue please contact Council.

Can I bring a dog? 
Pets are not permitted at any of the movie screenings. 

Are there toilets on site?
Movie screenings generally take place on a public reserve or in a public park where toilet amenities are nearby. 

What should I do with my rubbish? 
Patrons are encouraged to bring a rubbish bag and clean up after themselves once the movie ends. There will be additional event rubbish bins onsite for you to dump your rubbish into.
