Establishing a Community Market

Community Markets

Markets are a popular pass time for residents in the Port Macquarie-Hastings region featuring regional produce, artisan food products and crafts. These markets activate our community spaces, bringing farmers and producers closer to the community and provide the opportunity for a range of value-adding businesses to start-up and grow in our region.

Due to the popularity and prominence of markets in our region, a Markets Policy was developed to communicate our approach to the approval of markets and facilitate well managed markets that help to support and contribute to our local economy, complementing the offerings of local businesses. To discuss the Markets Policy with Council, and how it applies to your market proposal, contact Council’s Senior Economic Development Officer on (02) 6581 8111 or via economic@pmhc.nsw.gov.au.
