Nominations are now open for the 2022 Port Macquarie-Hastings Australia Day awards.

Australia Day is a day for all Australians, no matter where our personal stories began. It is the day to celebrate our diversity and the values that we share as an Australian community.

Categories on offer for 2022 Australia Day Award categories include:

  • Young Citizen of the Year (16 - 30 years)
  • Citizen of the Year (31 - 65 years)
  • Senior Citizen of the Year (65+ years)
  • Community Group of the Year
  • Environmental Citizen of the Year

The Port Macquarie-Hastings Local Government community has so many deserving locals who go above and beyond to make a difference in our community. The last two years have presented many challenges including bushfires, floods and the COVID situation. This is the time to nominate that special someone or community group who have gone the extra mile through volunteering, or achievements in sporting, cultural, environmental or leadership. Please jump online and put them forward for this prestigious award.

Nominations for the 2022 Port Macquarie-Hastings Council Australia Day Awards close on 30th November 2021. Please refer to the eligibility criteria prior to making a nomination.

All nominations must be completed and submitted via the online Award nomination form below.

Award recipients will be announced as part of Council’s Australia Day Official Program to be held on Australia Day. Following a successful single Australia Day event in 2021, Councillors have decided that Australia Day will be celebrated in Wauchope on Wednesday 26 January 2022 with events rotating annually between Port Macquarie, Laurieton and Wauchope. Further details will be provided closer to the date.
