My Aged Care is an Australian Government website and phone line to help you find out what aged care services may be available to help you.

You may be eligible to receive services such as:

Help at home

  • personal care like help getting dressed
  • transport
  • modifications to your home like hand rails or ramps
  • nursing, physiotherapy and other care
  • meals
  • household jobs like cleaning or gardening
  • equipment like walking frames
  • social activities.

Short-term help

  • when you have had a setback and want to get your independence back
  • recovery from an accident or illness, including after a hospital stay
  • when you or your carer needs a break (respite care).

Care in an aged care home

If you find you need ongoing help with day-to-day tasks or health care, a residential aged care home lets you live in a supported environment where help is available 24 hours a day.

Linked Community Services

Provides accessible transport services to eligible seniors, younger people with disabilities and their carers living in the Hastings and Macleay council areas.

Project/volunteer cars & mini buses are available for hospital and medical appointments, shopping, library and social and recreational outings. All new clients over age 65 and over 50 if Aboriginal, must be registered with My Aged Care

Hastings Valley Community Options Projects (HVCOPS)

We aim to assist frail aged people, people with a disability and/or their carers who require case management of 2 or more services.

Hastings Valley Neighbourhood Aid

Services include social support for shopping, errands, appointments and outings. Home and hospital visits, Tai Chi for arthritis, easy care gardening and small group social outings, information and referral.

Home Nursing Group

The Home Nursing Group aims to assist people to stay in their homes and remain independent for as long as possible. They provide many services including Domestic Assistance, Personal care, Social Support and Respite. The Home Nursing Group cover the Port Macquarie, Laurieton, Lake Cathie, Wauchope, Kempsey and surrounding areas.

Mayo Home Nursing Service

Mayo Home Nursing was established in 1997 and is regarded as a leading provider of Community Nursing and Home care services on the Mid North Coast, Hastings Valley, Macleay Valley, Manning Valley, The Great Lakes, Gloucester and the surrounding area’s. We have offices in Taree and Port Macquarie with qualified staff caring for our clients 24 hours a day/ 7 days per week.



  • Personal Care – Activities of daily living, showering, dressing, bowel care, application non prescription cream, medication prompting.
  • Domestic Assistance – Everyday household activities eg cleaning bathroom, dusting, vacuuming, laundry.
  • Meals – Meal preparation in the clients home, bulk cooking and freezing meals.
  • Social Support – Social activities and assistance with everyday tasks. Shopping, banking, paying bills, and socialization.
  • In Home Respite Care – A service to provide support to the carer and relieve them from their caring role which allows them to pursue other activities or interests.
  • Nursing and Allied Health Support – Assessments, wound care, medication administration, monitoring of vital signs, Palliative Care.
  • Case Management / Coordinator of Supports – This can be provided at your request. We can provide you with information about services and resources and make referrals on your behalf.

Omnicare Alliance

Omnicare Alliance is the result of an amicable merger between four long-standing, local not-for-profit organisations: Hastings District Respite Care, Meals on Wheels Mid North Coast, Parklands Cottage and Hastings Home Modifications You now get easier access to a range of services through just one point of contact, rather than having to deal with multiple providers. As we roll out our full range of services, they'll cover communities in Port Macquarie, Wauchope, Camden Haven, Kempsey, Sawtell, Taree and the Great Lakes.

Social Seniors and Friends

Centre based activity program including games, craft, sing-a-longs and indoor bowls.

This program is delivered by the Mid North Coast Local Health District.

Wesley Mission Social Support

Need some extra support to continue getting the most out of life? Like to get involved in a new activity? We’re here to help.

We support older people to maintain an active social life by having someone visit them at home or in a supported residential service, or through community outings. The programs are also available to adults with disability.

Port Macquarie Hastings U3A

Seniors in the Port Macquarie Hastings District are able to enjoy many social activities and learning opportunities on offer at their local U3A branch.

U3A is a world wide organisation dedicated to supporting people in their "Third Age", or retirement years. It is a non profit organisation, run entirely by volunteers. 

U3A offers a broad range of topics activities and social events to seniors in our community. There are classes in Australian History, Languages, Photography, Art, Crafts and Textiles, Computer Classes and Current Affairs Discussion Groups to name a few.  Other activities include Movies, exercise classes, Petanque, Bridge, Scrabble and Mahjong, Yoga and Meditation.
