EOI to create a Gratitude Mural

Gratitude murals

Port Macquarie-Hastings Council (PMHC) invites artists to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to develop one or more artworks that respond to the criteria set out in the attached guidelines, as part of a series of Gratitude Murals to be installed at various locations throughout the Port Macquarie-Hastings area following the devastating bushfires that effected our region in 2019.  This project is funded through the Commonwealth Government Disaster Recovery Funding made available to Council.

Project Background

Through the Commonwealth Government Disaster Recovery Funding, a unique opportunity has been created for local artists to contribute to the creation of a series of “Thank You” Gratitude Murals to be installed at various locations throughout the Port-Macquarie-Hastings region.

The mural artworks, commissioned by PMHC, will add to existing public artworks, sculptures, community artworks and interpretive signage located throughout our region. The installation of these murals allows the community (through the artists interpretation) to express their gratitude to all who helped protect our region during the recent bushfire devastation and what they are grateful for now, after reflection.

Artists are invited to creatively interpret the “Thank You” theme, for each mural site. The artwork design is to be an interpretation of a ‘thank you’ message, but does not have to literally include the words ‘thank you’.  Nor does it need to have community organisation logos or flames.

PMHC will commission artists to create works for seven (7) identified sites located within the Port Macquarie-Hastings Local Government area. These include:

Site 1: Lake Cathie
Site 2: Beechwood
Site 3: Long Flat
Site 4: Pappinbarra
Site 5: Rollands Plains
Site 6: Port Macquarie
Site 7: Wauchope
