Kindee Bridge

Kindee Bridge

In 2018, Kindee Bridge suffered extensive damage to the permanent braces and hanging rods of the bridge due to a vehicle collision. We undertook repairs to the bridge to replace the permanent braces and hanging rods, with the bridge reopening on 15 November 2018. The following extracts below are updates on the project.

In 2019-2020 financial year, we are looking at designs for an alternate bridge site for Kindee Bridge along with more maintenance work to prolong the life of the existing bridge. We will update this page with more detail on what this will include when more information is available.

Project Updates

  • Kindee Bridge update: 8 July

    08 July 2020

On Monday 13 July, an additional road closure will be required between 9am and 3pm, in order to relocate the under bridge scaffold as part of our ongoing repair works.

The road closures will continue on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays as per the works schedule. Please use the detour route while the road closure is in place.

  • Kindee Bridge repairs update

    10 June 2020

Stage 1 structural repair works on Kindee Bridge were completed on 4 June 2020.

Stage 2 works are planned to commence on 15 June with road closures from 9am to 3pm through to 19 June 2020.

From 22 June, road closures will occur on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9am to 3pm. This work will take approximately 15 weeks to complete (weather pending).

In late July, a 5 tonne gross vehicle mass load limit and 10km/hr reduced speed limit will be implemented on the bridge for appoximately 5 weeks. These measures are being implemented to ensure the safety of both motorists and work crews and to maintain the long term structural integrity of the bridge.

During road closures there will be no vehicle or pedestrian access across the bridge.

Please use Pipeclay Road as a detour during this time.

  • Kindee Bridge repairs 2020

    16 December 2019

As part of Council’s 2019/20 Operational Plan and ongoing commitment to the region’s road network, Council will be carrying out structural repairs in 2020, to the Kindee Bridge located on Kindee Road, approx. 3km west of Long Flat.

Works on the existing timber and steel suspension bridge will include replacement and/or refurbishment of selected members to prolong the life of the bridge.

Works are scheduled to commence in early February 2020 and are expected to take approx. 5 months to complete.
