Port Macquarie-Hastings Council, in partnership with the NSW State Government, significantly improved the safety for pedestrians and motorists in Telegraph Point by creating a more accessible all abilities pathway link between the residential area and the Log Wharf Reserve.
The improvements were:
- Stage 1: Approximately 800m of new path including pedestrian refuges on Mooney Street from Morse Lane (in front of the Sports Club) to Log Wharf Reserve Boat Ramp.
- Stage 2: Parking upgrades, including formalised parking spaces, pedestrian refuges adjacent to the Telegraph Point Primary School and improvements to footpath access adjacent to Rollands Plains Road.
These works were completed in April 2020 with a $698,000 funding allocation from the NSW Government under the Stronger Country Communities Fund.
