Batar Creek Road connects the rural village of Kendall with Stewarts River in the south and has an average daily traffic volume of approximately 500 vehicles. 4km's south of Kendall along Batar Creek Road, O'Neill's Bridge is an existing two-span timber structure fording Batar Creek.

The project includes the replacement of O’Neill’s Bridge with a raised dual lane concrete structure significantly improving safety, accessibility, and amenity for the broader community.

This project is jointly funded by the Australian Government and Port Macquarie Hastings Council, and is currently in the construction phase with completion due in mid-2018.

Batar Creek Rd will remain open throughout construction via a single lane of traffic over the existing bridge, controlled by temporary traffic lights. Reduced speed limits and altered traffic conditions will apply.

The Bridge Replacement Program is part of the significant upcoming works program to be rolled out across the Local Government Area over the next three financial years.
