Hartys Creek Bridge

Hartys Creek Bridge Dec 2018.png

The new Hartys Creek Bridge opened to traffic on Friday 23 November 2018 after a 10 day shutdown period, with the final project completed by 20 December 2018.

Originally a timber bridge, the new single span reinforced concrete bridge provides a more reliable and safer crossing along Comboyne Road.

Project Overview

Hartys Creek Bridge is located approximately 4km west of Byabarra on Comboyne Road and lies between the towns of Comboyne and Wauchope. The bridge was originally designed and constructed in 1955 and has been in service for over 60 years as a key linkage point for several agricultural industries located in Comboyne. The bridge was replaced with a new single span reinforced concrete bridge during the 2018/19 financial year.

The overall aim of the project was to provide a more reliable and safer regional route along Comboyne Road, provide a quality bridge for current and future users and to reduce our ongoing maintenance costs for the lifespan of the bridge.

The project was jointly funded by Council and Roads and Maritime Services, through their Repair and Improvement of Regional Roads Program.

Hartys Creek Bridge is the final timber bridge on Comboyne Road to be replaced, coming after similar successful replacements completed at Hyndman and Bulli Creek located to the east of Byabarra. The Bridge Replacement Program is part of the significant upcoming works program to be rolled out across the Local Government Area.
