Stage 2 -Delivered

Reconstruction works to improve the safety and ride quality of Beechwood Rd, between Riverbreeze Dr and Rosewood Rd in Wauchope have been completed.

The reconstruction of the 1km stretch of Beechwood Rd adds to several recent upgrades of Beechwood Rd and Pembrooke Rd in the immediate area. The works are part of Council’s ongoing commitment to improving community road safety and upgrading our region’s transport and stormwater network.

The full road reconstruction included formalised turning lanes, revised kerbing, and new lighting at the Riverbreeze Dr intersection. The road was widened, guardrail installed and drainage improved.

To ensure the ongoing safety of all road users and to allow for widening of the road, some trees were removed with every effort being made to minimise this number. Port Macquarie Koala Hospital were invited to salvage the foliage from these trees and further offset planting will take place.

Previous Reconstruction Stages - Delivered

Stage 1 reconstruction works of Beechwood Road occurred during 2014 from the Pembrooke Rd and Beechwood Rd intersection to Bain Bridge. It generally comprised road realignment and upgrade works of the western bridge approach to improve ride quality and motorist safety.

Following the construction of Stage 1, Stage 3 reconstruction works of Beechwood Road was implemented between the eastern approach to Bain Bridge and the Rosewood Rd intersection. This reconstruction work involved the widening and overlay of the existing road surface, as well as various drainage improvements and installation of guardrail at various locations.

Additional Beechwood Road maintenance work - Delivered

The section of Beechwood Rd between the Pembrooke Rd intersection and Beechwood Township was recently rehabilitated to increase the service life of the road and reduce ongoing maintenance costs.
