The replacement of the public amenities located in Short Street Port Macquarie was completed on 16 September 2019. The new public amenities were deliberately designed to be accessible, self-cleaning and relocatable.
The project involved:
- Installing accessible self-cleaning amenities (including toilets and change room with the inclusion of a height adjustable adult change table)
- installation of pathways for easier access to new amenities
- extension of water, power and sewer services from existing amenities site to the new amenities site
- demolition of the existing amenities, and line marking the area for car spaces
We received funding for this project from the NSW Government, and it aligned with Council's 2017-2021 Disability inclusion Action Plan (Focus Area 2.3) which identities the need 'to progressively improve the access to public amenities for all residents and visitors'.
The project is proudly funded by NSW Government and Port Macquarie-Hastings Council.
