Stage 2 - Delivered
Improvement to Hill Street have been completed with road works being carried out in Hill St between Lord St and Granite St, with sections two and three to progressing west ending 20m east of Lake Road.
Improvements to Hill St sees the reconstruction of the road to a higher standard and the installation of a new road pavement that significantly improves ride quality for motorists.
This $1 million project was part of Council’s Road Rehabilitation Program which is being rolled out over the current financial year improving our region’s sealed road network.
Stage 1 - Delivered
As Stage 1 of the Hill Street Upgrade project, a new roundabout and traffic islands at the intersection of Hill St and Granite St was completed in June 2017.
As a result of a detailed crash analysis conducted across the local government area, this intersection was identified as a safety blackspot with four serious crashes recorded since 2009.
Council successfully applied for and received funding of $150,000 through the Federal Safety Blackspot Program, with Council contributing an additional $88,000 to deliver the $238,000 project.
Works included the construction of a new roundabout, removal of the existing traffic islands and construction of new traffic islands on Hill St and Granite St. A section of the existing kerb was also realigned, drainage improvements occurred and new asphalt pavement provided at the intersection.
