Houston Mitchell Drive between Bonny Hills and the Pacific Highway received a major upgrade that completes safety and traffic flow improvements along this vital link road.
The program of works involved two sections of Houston Mitchell Drive; between Long Point Drive and the Pacific Highway, and a 2.5km stretch west of Forest Parkway. These two sections complete the upgrade to the entire length of the road.
This important infrastructure Project involved the realignment and reconstruction of over 4km of Houston Mitchell Drive. These works improve the safety standards of the major road for the benefit of all road users, including pedestrian and cyclists and provide a 3.25m travel lane with a 2m sealed shoulder and 1m verge in each direction.
The $7 million project was part of Council’s 2015-2016 Operational Plan under a joint funding arrangement between Council and Roads and Maritime Services and the upgrade formed part of the $54 million of road re-sealing, upgrade and maintenance works. This Project was completed in September 2017.
