On Wednesday 17th July 2019, Council awarded the contract to commence preliminary investigations for the future upgrade of John Oxley Drive between Kingfisher Road and The Ruins Way.
Initially an assessment of current and predicted traffic movements along John Oxley Drive will occur, taking into consideration the current and expected development within the immediate area, the continued and projected population growth in Thrumster and traffic from west of the Pacific Highway. These findings will guide the production of a Traffic Modelling Report, which will in turn lead to the production of Preliminary Concept Designs.
John Oxley Drive is one of the region’s busiest roads, seeing significant vehicle movements each day. With the expected population growth west of Port Macquarie, this key arterial road plays an important role within the existing and future road network.
It is anticipated that the Traffic Modelling Report and Preliminary Concept Designs will take approximately three months to complete, after which Council will commence community engagement with the local community and key stakeholders in the area.
