Village Sewerage Scheme: Comboyne, Long Flat and Telegraph Point

Autumn in Comboyne Village
Comboyne Village

Construction is progressing on the 'Three-Villiage Sewerage Scheme' project for the communities of Telegraph Point, Comboyne and Long Flat. As at April 2020, the Telegraph Point village project is complete and now ready for connection.

In August 2018, Council awarded Ledonne Constructions the Contract to construct the village sewerage schemes in Comboyne, Long Flat and Telegraph Point.

All three communities will benefit from the construction of new sewerage treatment plants and full collection systems which will include a gravity sewer at Long Flat and Comboyne. A pressure sewer system will be installed at Telegraph Point has been constructed under the Contract.

Sewage waste disposal within the 3 villages is currently through on-site sewerage management systems, and the new fully reticulated sewerage network will provide a more efficient disposal method, and importantly protect the environment and health of the local community.

Providing the systems in the 3 villages is a total investment of more than $29 million, which is being funded by Council and includes a NSW State Government contribution of almost $6 million under the Restart NSW Water Security for Regions program.

Connections to the Telegraph Point Scheme are now underway with applications for property connection made available commencing 20 April 2020.

Works are progressing well at Comboyne and Long Flat with completion at each location anticipated to be:

  • Telegraph Point - Property connections can now progress
  • Comboyne - Completion during September 2020
  • Long Flat - Completion during October 2020

Council will provide advice to all landowners when the schemes have been completed (including reticulation and treatment works) with advice when connection can commence and how this is to be done.

Project Updates

  • Long Flat Playground

    05 August 2020

As part of the Long Flat Sewerage Scheme works, construction of a new Waste Water Pump Station is underway at the rear of the Long Flat public toilets.

The Long Flat Playground has temporarily been closed for use whilst the pump station and access works are undertaken. Reinstatement of the playground will commence in September with a modified layout to ensure fall zone standards are achieved.

Council apologises for any inconvenience caused and appreciates the community's patience whilst these important infrastructure works take place.
