The newly upgraded Blair Reserve Playground in the Lighthouse Beach area in Port Macquarie is now officially back open for play. Mayor Peta Pinson and Member for Port Macquarie Leslie Williams officially opened the upgraded playground to the community on Tuesday 7 July.
The new inclusive play space is sure to be enjoyed by children of all ages and abilities with new features that align with the Everyone Can Play guidelines (www.everyonecanplay.nsw.gov.au) including a wheelchair accessible picnic table, in ground spinner, seesaw and bubbler. New equipment includes monkey bars, log climbing net and balancing log, and a timber cubby house with a slide. The existing gardens, swing set, rope climb and basketball backboard and net have also been given a spruce up.
The $135,700 upgrade was joint-funded by Council to the tune of $85,700 with the NSW Government contributing $50,000 through an Everyone Can Play Grant.
