Archived planning engagement

An important part of helping the community stay motivated to give Council feedback is to actively and openly report back what it is the community said. To this end, Council has produced a number of reports regarding the consultation that occurred between 2008 and 2013 in developing the corporate plans.

Below is a summary of the engagement activities and outcomes with the most recent planning year appearing first.

2012 - 2013

In February 2012, Council applied to the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) for a special rate variation for the 2012-2013 financial year. The application to IPART contains a report on the community engagement.

2011 - 2012

After extensive engagement throughout 2009-10 the first suite of integrated planning documents were publicly exhibited before adoption. Community participation was encouraged through media, advertising and direct marketing to those that had been previously involved. A workshop session specifically for the members of the Community Reference Group (CRG) was also conducted.

Understanding Priorities and Expectations of Council 2010

Council conducted a range of community participation activities including workshops, online surveys and visits to community groups. The priorities, thoughts and aspirations of more than 1,000 people of all ages from throughout the Local Government Area were captured. This significant community commentary assisted Council to prioritise activities and expenditure.

The 2010 Participation Report outlines the engagement strategy, methodology and overall results. For more detailed information on this program including the report appendix which includes the reference documents and results for each activity, please contact Council's Integrated Planning and Reporting Development Officer
