Council is responsible for conducting Australian Citizenship ceremonies for conferees who have been approved by the Department of Home Affairs.
Once approved, the Department will write to the conferee advising that they will be invited by Council to attend a Citizenship Ceremony to make their citizenship pledge and receive their Citizenship Certificate. Council can only invite a conferee to a ceremony if their name is on the list of approved conferees provided by the Department.
Citizenship ceremonies are held approximately every eight weeks throughout the year.

2021 Australian Citizenship Ceremonies
Citizenship ceremonies are scheduled to be conducted by Council in 2021 in the months listed below:
- January - Australia Day
- July - cancelled
- September - cancelled
Approved conferees will receive an invitation letter from Council 3-4 weeks prior to the Citizenship Ceremony outlining the details of the ceremony.
Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, please note that the above schedule is subject to change or cancellation in accordance with the Public Health Orders in place at the time of the scheduled ceremony.
