Creating a brighter future together

During the last 12 months as your Mayor, I have witnessed first-hand what it means to take pride in where you live.

I have also witnessed many of our community get involved and work with Council on a range of projects that benefit not just them, but everyone right across the region.

In the coming months, Council will host a number of community planning workshops providing yet another opportunity for residents to develop a future vision for their local community.

Community Plans look at the character and liveability of our towns and villages, and work to better align the community’s vision for the future with Council’s processes and budgets.

A community plan has already been completed with the Bonny Hills community, and over the next 6 months plans will also be developed for areas in and around the Port Macquarie North Shore, Laurieton, Comboyne and Thrumster.

If you love where you live, and want to be involved in designing the future vision for your local community, then I urge you to get involved.

Stay up-to-date with Council works

When I’m out and about at community events I’m often asked about all of the things Council are up to, and how rates are being spent on projects that benefit our community.

With so much going on, it is a challenge for Council to communicate everything we are up to, so to make things easier, we’ve developed parts of our website to now include schedules and maps of roads, paths and bridges that have recently been upgraded, or will be in the near future.

There’s also a section called ‘What we’re up to’ which lists all the major projects Council is working on, such as the Airport Terminal Upgrade, where regular status updates are posted so that our community can stay informed.

I encourage everyone to visit and check out what’s happening right across the region.
