Little Blue Dinosaur Foundation

Children at Rotary Park Playground

The Little Blue Dinosaur Foundation works to educate and protect children around roads, teaching them about the ever-present dangers, and using signs to better inform drivers and pedestrians.

The Foundation is dedication to the memory of founders Michelle and David McLaughlin's son, Tom, who was the victim of a roadside accident while on holidays with his family on the Central Coast in January 2014.

For the second year in a row Port Macquarie-Hastings Council has partnered with child pedestrian and road safety foundation, Little Blue Dinosaur. We have installed over 200 bright and colourful "Holiday Time: Slow Down Kids Around" and "Hold my Hand" road safety signs.

This year, we have expanded our efforts from Town Beach and Flynns Beach areas to include:

  • Lighthouse BeachLittle blue dinosaur, deputy mayor and mums
  • Bonny Hills
  • Lake Cathie
  • North Haven

The Little Blue Dinosaur safety signage will remain in place during the school holiday period.

How can you get involved?

We call on everyone, whether a local or holiday maker, to take note of the Foundation's simple mantras: "Holiday Time: Slow Down Kids Around" and "Hold my Hand."
