Learn to play the Ukulele

Group shot of seniors playing the Ukulele

Do you have an inner musician waiting to break out? Well here’s your chance...

Thanks to a Creative Ageing Local Government grant, we are the first Council in Australia to have ukulele kits available for loan. Visit the Port Macquarie Library and chat to one of the friendly Librarians about how to borrow a free uke kit which includes ukulele, tuner and case.

So far over 120 seniors have participated in this project and a group of them have formed CUE - the Conservatorium Ukulele Ensemble. This group is made up of beginners who are playing tunes from the Beatles, Elvis and modern songs under the tutelage of founder Ruth Allen.

The Conservatorium Mid North Coast offers a variety of beginner courses contact them direct for details and costs of the next course at www.cmnc.org.au, or phone 0457 266 200.

Don’t miss the opportunity to try something new while having fun and meeting new people.
