Council has received a $21,500 Age-Friendly Community Local Government Grant to construct a footpath near a retirement village as the pilot project of “Yellow Brick Road”.
In an ideal world every purchaser of a mobility vehicle/scooter will be encouraged to identify a “safe route” to destination before setting out that include as many footpaths as possible.
Our initiative is to create footpath links from key locations – Retirement Villages, Hostels, Special Needs accommodation into town or to major locations of interest/need, such as shopping centres and medical precincts.
Keep your eyes peeled for a yellow brick stencil on footpaths as this will identify a connected footpath route.
For more information about the Yellow Brick Road, please contact Council on (02) 6581 8111.
