I've lost my pet!

If your dog is caught in a public place not under control, any member of the public may take the animal and hand it over to the pound or alternatively a Council Ranger may seize and impound your animal. If your animal is seized by Council, it is scanned for the presence of a microchip and if present the owner is contacted (where possible) and informed that the animal has been seized. Where phone contact is not possible, a Council Ranger will send a 'Notice of Seizure' to the registered owner via mail.

To release your animal you will be required to fill in a release form and pay the appropriate impounding fees. If your animal is not microchipped and registered it will not be released from the pound without being microchipped and registered at the owner’s expense.
