Australia Day

Australia Day is on 26 January and commemorates the landing of the first fleet onto Australian shores. It is an opportunity for Australians to come together to celebrate their country and culture.

Each year, our region celebrates our local heros through the PMHC Australia Day awards.

In 2016, a total of 23 citizens and 5 Community groups were nominated across four categories:

  • Young Citizen of the Year
  • Senior Citizen of the Year
  • Community Group of the Year
  • Citizen of the Year.
