Port Macquarie-Hastings Council values the important role volunteers play in fostering a true sense of community across the Local Government Area. The benefits of volunteering are not just for the event but also for the volunteers themselves. Volunteering is a great way to give back to the community, build skills as well as meet a variety of people from all walks of life and create new connections. So why don't you volunteer today.

Council supports a number of volunteer programs through a variety of ways. More information on volunteer programs through Council is listed below.

Port Macquarie Library 

Port Macquarie Library provides volunteering opportunities through their Friends of the Library Program. Call the Library on 6581 8755 to find out more or visit the Library website. 

The Glasshouse

The Glasshouse has a large team of volunteers who assist the Gallery staff to open, administer and maintain the Regional Gallery. Glasshouse Gallery Volunteers carry out a range of duties including:

  • Greeting visitors
  • Directing visitors to exhibitions
  • Monitoring artwork
  • Collecting surveys
  • Assisting with minor administrative duties
Throughout the year the Glasshouse staff provide a number of volunteer training activities and social events. Volunteering at the Glasshouse is a great way to contribute to the community and also meet new friends.

Graffiti Blasters

Graffiti Blasters volunteers tackle illegal graffiti on public property in known hotspots using specialist equipment and a vehicle provided by Council.

Volunteers receive comprehensive training and ongoing support and can select shifts to combat the growing issue of graffiti. Shifts are available from 9am to 12pm or 1pm to 4pm Monday to Friday.

More volunteers are needed so if you have:

  • A keen interest in working outdoors and working with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds;
  • Good communication skills and a friendly, helpful manner;
  • An understanding of safe work practices; and
  • The ability to use chemicals and garden tools.

Countdown to Christmas

Are you looking for a creative way to promote your business in Port Macquarie ? 

Are you looking for free exposure and the opportunity for your staff to interact with over 4,500 local Port Macquarie-Hastings community members?

Countdown to Christmas is a great event held in Port Macquarie CBD and brings together the entire community.  With over 4,500 attendees, the festivities include a parade of floats, mascot race, the lighting of the town Christmas tree and fireworks.
