Mayor's weekly message: 12 March 2018
New Wayfinding Signage
Last week I had the pleasure of working with our state and federal government colleagues to announce the upcoming installation of walking ‘way finding’ signage along our coastal walk and throughout our region’s town centres.
Council and the Commonwealth Government will each contribute $125,000 to produce and install the new signage, and we’re all excited to see these pop up in the coming months.
We are known as a very friendly and walkable destination, and the signs will add to the experience for our visitors, helping them to discover our hidden gems and much loved attractions. It also offers a great boost for our coastal walk, and the locals and visitors who frequent its winding trail each day.
Having high quality signage and information along its 9km span will be an excellent new feature for all users, and will complement the many upgrades set to take place in the coming years.
While the major focus of these signs will be to lead new visitors to our much loved attractions, I encourage all our locals to get out and explore, using the signs as your guide, you just never know what you might discover!
NSW Most Progressive Council
This week marked a very proud moment in my tenure as Mayor, as I was privileged to be a part of the official presentation where Council was awarded the 2017 A R Bluett Memorial Award.
The award is recognition that Council is achieving excellent results in delivering progress and value to the community, and to receive credit for the great work so far is added motivation to strive to do even better moving forward. As Mayor, I will ensure our community continues to be heard, and will continue to work hard with the many dedicated Council staff to continuously improve and deliver results for our growing community.
A big thankyou to all Council staff and the many community members and community groups that work with Council each and every day to create a vibrant future for our region, this achievement would not have been made possible without you.
